Once a year the quiet Thai resort town of Hua Hin comes alive with its annual jazz festival on the beach, which has just chalked up its sixth year. The major sponsors of the Hua Hin Jazz Festival are Heineken : heinekenthai.com although there are usually a number of secondary sponsors including Yamaha, LG, EMI, Hitman, Emporium, Sprite and more.

Jazz on the beach 2007
Hua Hin Jazz Festival 2007 was held on the 8th and 9th of June, while there were fewer days and stages than previous years it was still a top notch event. With musical talent from the SU Jazz Quintet, OMAH Special Quartet, duets by Ben Charatit and Mariam Alcalali and finally Montefiori Cocktail on the friday. The crowd were on their feet as the Italian jazz artists jammed with some classics, adding their own flavour to the beat. The twins play different musical instruments, Francesco (Kekko) on keyboards and Federico (Kikko) on sax, flute and vocals. Revelers were spotted dancing in the ocean and even on Hua Hin's famous stones as the tide came in late friday evening.

Saturday was even livelier as the crowds hit the beach, a floating Heineken "Sea Bar" was setup along with a number of beer and food stalls. A number of large screens were also erected to alleviate some of the overcrowding at the single stage. The musical talent on the day did not disappoint with performances from The Young Blood Band, Bossa Blossom and the outstanding guitarist Prode Tanapat. The highlight of the evening was a powerful performance by Danish jazz and blues singer Caroline Henderson. The only drawback to an otherwise first class event was the lack of space and overcrowding, beach access and toilet facilities were also limited. As this event grows so do the crowds so we hope the organizers of future jazz festivals will bear this in mind.
